  • Never monetize your bot or any version of it (modified included).

  • Aurora’s code and/or any modifications to it must retain this license agreement in all future versions to ensure it remains open-source.

  • You can’t claim Aurora, or any version you modify as your own creation.

  • You will never use Aurora for any illegal or harmful activity.

Overview

Aurora is an open-source Discord bot developed by PixieSidequest. This license ensures that Aurora remains free, collaborative, and accessible while preventing commercial exploitation and corporate control.

Permissions

  • Use – You can run Aurora on your server.

  • Modify – You can modify Aurora’s code for personal or community use.

  • Share – You can distribute modified versions as long as they remain open-source and credit to PixieSidequest is given.

  • Contribute – Submission of improvements to the project is encouraged to help Aurora evolve.

Restrictions

  • No Monetization of Any Kind – Aurora and any of its derivatives cannot be sold, monetized, placed behind paywalls, or used in any commercial capacity. This includes: Paid services (charging users for access). Advertising-based models (placing Aurora’s code behind ad-driven platforms). Enterprise licensing (corporations using modified versions for profit). Corporate-backed modifications (any company attempting to claim ownership).

  • No Closed-Source Forks– Any modifications or distributions must remain open-source under this same APL-1.0 license.

  • No Misrepresentation – You cannot claim authorship of Aurora. Any distribution must credit PixieSideQuest as the original creator.

  • No Malicious Use – You cannot modify Aurora for harmful, illegal, or unethical purposes.

Requirements for Distribution & Contributions

Community Stewardship -

PixieSidequest does not claim ownership over individual contributions. By contributing, you help shape the future of Aurora. This project remains community-driven and accountable to its mission.

Public Access: Any modifications or forks must be open-source and use the same APL-1.0 license.

Attribution: Include the following notice in modified versions:

  • Based on Aurora by PixieSidequest, licensed under APL-1.0.

  • License Retention: This license must remain intact in all copies or forks.

Liability & Warranty Disclaimer

Products are provided "as is", without warranty of any kind. PixieSidequest is not liable for any damages, data loss, or misuse of its products.

Future Changes to Licensing

PixieSidequest and its community may collectively release future versions of APL, but any project using APL-1.0 is permanently locked to these terms unless the original author explicitly grants permission to change licenses.
